Went into the woods with some other club members yesterday. The weather warmed up nicely but besides
digging lots of shotgun and rifle brass,, the good targets were hard to find. I dug out a coin at 6 inches deep and it turned out to be a memorial penny. Go figure.
I did manage to add to my iron pile in the form of some tools. There is a hitching pin for a bull dozer, a small spade that was probably used by a trapper, and the business end of a ball pean hammer. The spoon is stamped W. Rodgers but it is Silver Plated.
I did manage to pick up a hitch hiker in the form of a tick. Make sure you guys keep checking for these little guys because obviously it is still warm enough for them to be active.

I dunno about you guys and it won't make much of a difference, but every tick I pick off is neatly bisected wit' me pocketknife and becomes one that won't get it's lil' ass on anybody else. It's like bottle caps and can slaw. I don't throw 'em back down.

I love creatures, but not these....If I find walking one ones on me, they go in a bowl of water in the microwave. If attached, they get taped to an index card with date and bite location...If in more than a day then it is off to doctor or urgent care to get preventive medicine for Lyme.

Interesting iron....

Those are cool. I recently came across an old wrench (at least I think it is). The handle looks like it is a bolt, has weird knobs on the handle, then as the handle turns into the wrench, it rounds off. The slot for the nut is very strange looking. I'm wondering if you ever came across anything like that. It looks handmade. Found on an obvious old road following a very tiny creek. I think there used to be houses back there, but no historic maps reflect that thought.

Can you post a few pictures of the wrench you are talking about?

Yes. As soon as I get home. I'm detecting at a property where the house was built in 1830...not having any luck! He has lived here since 1980 and nobody ever asked to detect either :(. Using a new-to-me White's XLT and still trying to figure it out. I'm in coin and jewelry but thinking about putting it into relics mode

The silver plated spoon is in nice shape, I keep all complete pieces of cutlery I find.
You never know what you're going to find if you don't take the time to detect these isolated sites in the woods. :dontknow:

I agree with pa plateau hiker, RR pin.

Very serene looking site, I love a good woods hunt every now and again. Nice work on most of those finds (I hate ticks)

Looks nice except for that tick.... spray your clothes!!!

Congrats on the finds and nice day!! HH
