Went to the farm to do a little pre-season scouting for that big boy that is coming to a trail crossing near me (hopefully) come Nov. deer season. Saw plenty of deer and turkey this trip, and am getting anxious for fall and cooler temps that follow.
Made time to walk "Lost Creek" and had another set of eyes to help. Hunting buddy wanted to know what all the fuss was about, hunting for inanimate objects. (you can't eat that, so why hunt?) Good hearted jab. Well, made a pretty good start at showing him why.
I made the first few scores (both heads are brokes) the tip of the smaller is sooo finely knapped it is still quite sharp. Very thin. Wish I knew what the rest of it looked like and possible type. The other piece is very broke, with a broken shoulder as well as Distal end. Again help with this one if possible.
A couple of uniface scrapers, a bi-valve of some kind, a crinoid stem, and some well phrased one liners from me, didn't deter my friend. I did, however, encourage him to keep both eyes peeled as I knew there was going to be one staring right at him.
Well, eventually all that looking paid off for my friend. It had been picked up, with a big war whoop, before I could say squat. Can't say as I blame him. Told him, put it right back where you found it, for a pic. As predicted it was staring right at him.
It is real nice, even with the broken tip (old break). The best of the trip. More and better pics later.
Thanks for the looks.
