I stopped by an old church for an hour or so. Not really expecting much and that's
pretty much what I got. :)

But I had an interesting find. At least, the way it uncovered was interesting.

I'm going along, digging mostly penny hits and I get this super loud one!
Read around 90 and I said to myself, "Oh boy! Oh boy! Oh boy! " LOL

I flipped the plug and there, dead center in the bottom of the hole was this.

I sat back, laughed and said HUH!??.
And for a moment, albeit a brief one, I started trying to figure how the heck
could I get huge hit like that out of this!?!? Then, reason filtered back in and
I came to the conclusion that it couldn't. LOL I looked around in the hole and
found this:

I said, well, it makes more sense, but, naw! Still couldn't be! But, there was
nothing else in the hole! I sat there scratching my head when I noticed something
clinging to the bottom of the plug.

Then it all came together, so to speak. I said OOOOhhhhhhh! THAT's why!! LOL

All in all not a terrible day.

It turned a so so hunt into one I'll remember for a while. LOL

Thanks for peeking!

Yeah, and in case it doesn't show up in the pics. That tack is actually the stem off the back of the badge. :)

You had me going for a minute i thought you had really found that teeny tiny tack. I was thinking wow he must listen close :)

Oh yea We find regular Thumb tacks on occasion.

They are usually very hard to pinpoint even with a Sunray or Garrett probe, mainly because they
fool you & your detector to think they are deep & get pushed to the side in the top soil,
But Thumb tacks aren't even the Smallest targets detectors can find.

I saw it was an extra large Tac & I figured the other item came from the Badge But I didn't connect the Tac
to the two

I see Blingie has laid claim to his share!
Congrats nice finds!

Ya those little items sitting on the surface give loud signals, then the fun begins!
I have chased tiny stud earrings and other bits and pieces around in beach sand, finally had to keep dumping the sand on my drop cloth to find it with the pin pointer! It's great when the detector says it's there and the pin pointer can't find it!
I think a broken string of little metal beads is the worst!
GL & HH to all!
