Junk?

I found this a few weeks ago at an old farm house. I was going to pitch it but decided to try to clean it up. I knocked some of the chunks of dirt and rust off. I then did electrolysis for 24 hours. My son has some metal working tools and is very talented. I asked him to clean it up. He worked on it for weeks. He gave it to me for my 70th last night. Moral of the story, most anything you find can be transformed into something beautiful. How did he do it? See below. 120 grit 2" discs 60 grit belt sander 120 grit belt sander 240-800 grit 5" sanding disc on a DA polisher 1200-10000 grit 3 inch discs 8" polishing wheel with black compound 8" polishing wheel with green compound. I had various areas I had to address with a Dremel and an 80 grit 1/4" drum sander.I bought the handle and sanded off the polyurethane and recoated it with walnut Danish oil. Then, I installed the handle with the bamboo wedge and a round steel wedge.
