This happened last week so bear with me.
I was driving to work as usual looking along the road for anything good. When what to my wondering eyes should appear but a chainsaw!! Just so happens that I have been wanting to do some major damage with a chainsaw. So, I turn the company truck around and park at the only gap in the guardrail (across the entrance to a driveway). I bail out of the truck narrowly miss a semi and am reaching for the chainsaw when I hear a horn beep. The landowner is trapped by my truck and I am busted. I walk over holding the chainsaw and ask if it it his (no but they have been working on the guardrail--yeah right). I wind up handing over the saw "in case they come back looking for it".
Several mental calculations were running thru my head at the time. It was on his property, I was in a plainly marked company vehicle, He was acting a little squirrely, I really want to detect on his property anyway(circa 1800 old mill house, stone walls,etc), the chainsaw was an echo with about a 14 in bar(not that valuable).
30 seconds later and I would have had a beater chainsaw. Oh well, once again I have managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
