So do I! Couldn't you tell? Omg now that really is my idea of a treasure!!! :o
Seriously I think that Johnny Cash was the greatest, American song writer of the 20th century and most likely of all time. His music transcended all genres and I consider it to be genre all of its own. His lyrics had real meaning and substance that could apply to people from every walk of life. I am so thankful that Rick Ruben has the foresight to record all of the Cash American Recordings. I used to host and produce an alternative, music video program and I can't tell you how thrilled I was when the first, American Recording label with Johnny's music video, "Delia's Gone" was delivered. I worked with over 70 music labels and normally dreaded having so many videos delivered every single day, but I immediately played it on the very next show! I can honestly say that I have never heard one song of his that I didn't like and except for a few, older artists I'm not even into to C&W music and especially the newer watered down kind. His music will never be forgotten and will only grow in importance "as time keeps rolling on".

I saw him perform on Lollapalooza. My biggest regret was not going to see him perform locally in a small, informal club where the tickets were $250.00. I was given free, press and VIP tickets to all the shows as bribes from the record labels to play their artists so I was too spoiled and didn't want to pay although I can honestly say that I did stay true and never played an artist that I didn't really like regardless of such bribes and some of them were unreal. Too bad that radio stations don't and most can't do the same today ugh. I will forever regret not buying the ticket to see Johnny as I was sure that I'd see him play again which unfortunately didn't happen. I told everyone that after his wife June had died that he wouldn't be very long behind her and he wasn't. I think he died of a broken heart more than his health issues. Willie is also a good one too and he is still playing live today.

Johnny Cash - "Delia's Gone"

This is the exact copy of the same, very first video that I received which is why is has the TRT (total running time) and the black screen before the song on it for editing and programming purposes.

My parents discovered Johnny in St. Paul Minnesota. He would tour through at local bars when he was pretty much a nobody. My Dad, the Harley riding Rebel Machinist was very much the Johnny personality and they became friends. My parents moved to Southern California in 1958 or 59. He and Johnny stayed friends and Johnny became famous at some point but every year or 2 He would stop by to say Hi to my Dad. I've sat on his Lap and he would play songs in our living room. One year he brought Buck Owens, Roy Clark and Ken the yodeling Cowboy? They sang and played and laughed and drank beer all night. I will never forget them. If I had to pick a second favorite it would be Mr Buck Owens. He was such a Nice person. When I was little I did not even know they were famous. It was Johnnys coming over! Is he singing? I would race around the house dancing about. My brother ended up with a signed guitar from him He was older. I purchased this one.

Thanks for the great stories! A friend saw him in a tavern here in Tucson in the early 60's. A fight broke out amongst the patrons and Johnny yelled out from the little stage, "If theres any fighting it's gonna be with me!" And fast as lightning he's in amongst the brawlers who immediately shrank down in the presence of the man in black.

Awesome! Still in the business?

Thanks. No I couldn't take all of the corruption and saw the writing on the wall early enough to get out after I was vested with Time Warner. I retrained in an area of Holistic Medicine. I also am writing for myself instead of companies who had me under strict contracts who if I even wrote at home on my own time would have been entitled to a portion of my writing proceeds.

I like how Willie wrote On the Road Again then signed it. It is on an Epiphone guitar as well. Plays fantastic You have to be careful of the pick guard though so as not to wear off the man in black. I collect autographs and have several signed guitars. My next favorite is a Kurt Cobain signed Nirvana guitar. It also has Dave and Krist Foo Fighters are about the best live group I have seen. Them and Zack Brown Band

Wow you actually have a Kurt Cobain signed Nirvana guitar! I went into a depression after he died (notice I didn't say killed himself either). I loved the band Garbage with Shirley Manson from Scotland and I went to see them play back-up for the Foo Fighters. I don't care for Dave Grohl because of how he put a lot of pressure on Kurt by constantly trying to usurp the authority and spotlight away from him (lots of backstory there). I felt so guilty and let down after the Foo Fighters started playing that I left. They were no consolation for missing Kurt and Nirvana at all, at least not for me anyway.

Oh yeah and that witch Courtney Love was a Hole. I had to see her play at Lollapalooza. She kept putting her leg up on the speaker while she was wearing a dress with no panties ugh! That was so nasty I almost threw up! Her first and only album that ever did anything was because Billy Corgin from the Smashing Pumpkins wrote most of the songs. She was having an affair with him while married to Kurt. Kurt was actually in the process of divorcing that skank when he died. I only wish that he had as he still might have been with us today...

Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down (The Book of Eli)

I saw Johnny in Des Moines in '64. He was pretty drunk and performed sitting down in a straight-backed chair. Nonetheless, it was a great performance - there was something about him that was mesmerizing. I saw many great musicians during the Golden Age, ca mid '60s to mid '70s - mostly British blues, San Francisco groups, early Southern rock, etc. - but Cash always got my attention, right up to the end. So did Willie (Phases and Stages, Red-Headed Stranger), Waylon, Kris, John Prine and others. I miss the musicians' creativity and passion from those days. I know there are many exceptions, but for the most part, for me, the popular music scene in recent decades has devolved into recycled material performed by posers. Technically competent, but no real grab.

Yes! I do have a Kurt Nirvana signed guitar. It hangs in my office. I will take a picture for you :)
You can't blame Dave for the pressure. That after all what it is about in the music business? You start small and claw your way to the top. The hard working talent makes it and some of the Slag hangs on and makes it too (C Love) I met her at a Gig. I was Friends with Bradley from SUBLIME (we went to college together ha!) He would play at a local Long Beach State Beer pub and Gwen would come in as well as lots of other Rockers. She was definitely Twa....ty. No one liked being around her.

As for Kurt, I can't Imagine what he would have done if he were still hear. He was Pure Genius. My favorite his is an acoustic of My Girl, that he borrowed from Lead Belly. Can't find it at the moment or I would Post it. Off Too The PROM!!!! (Yard Sale Saturday! :) )

Wow you went to college with Bradley Nowell from Sublime. His death was so tragic, senseless and such a loss... I never could stand Gwen either and that's why I never played any of her videos "no doubt'.
