Anyone looking? I'm not holding my breath, but I have a good idea on about where some James loot might be (or have been) hidden. Frank James had a property near Dakota City, Ne. The family also had ties to Nebraska. Mother James spent the Civil War years there, Brown City, I think.
West of Dakota City is an area called Devil's Nest. It's rugged, desolate, and had Indian legends concerning it. That, and it's one of the few places in Nebraska where the limestone formation is exposed, revealing the potential for caves. And the James Boys loved them some cave.
The only cave I could actually locate was one Robber's Cave (or Monster Cave, depending on who's telling it), it's on private property, and well hidden, from what little I've been able to learn of it.
This area and subject are of special interest to me. If anyone knows anything that they could share, I would be very grateful. Thanks!
