Hi everyone.
First time poster. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with jadeite and metamorphic rocks in general.
My gravity tests gave me numbers in 3.3 range, but alas I'm no professional and I have had several people take a look. One called it chalcedony one called it quartz and another called it a pyroxene rich ampibole. I got excited when someone claimed it was jade and was worth looking in to an actual identification.
These were discovered in northern CA near the trinity/humbolt county line in a seasonal creek bed, very ancient stones if I had to guess. I like to rock hunt in locations with very little human traffic if any at all. In the same creek I found a lot of hardrock with copper and gold inclusions.
Oh, and they are pretty tough rocks, I can take a hammer to these without much result. I know nephrite rings like a bell, but these don't quite sing like the nephrite...so I dunno
So heres hoping for someone who can help me with a visual ID.
