How long do you think it had been there, and what do you think was the source ?
Also, what type of bedrock ?
Good questions given how it likes to evaporate and is somewhat water soluble in various forms

...theories about the ldm:
“It cannot be seen, cannot be felt,
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt,
It lies behind stars and under hills,
And empty holes it fills,
It comes first and follows after,
Ends life, kills laughter.”

I am no geologist. I am only Dan. I think it came from miners. I am unsure of the type of bedrock. Sorry.

What makes you believe it was left by miners, And was your bedrock in a stream bed or not.

My bedrock was a dry stream bed. I have not been schooled in what native mercury looks like, so it all is miners mercury to me.
