I'll be in Jacksonville for a week starting January 24th for work, but I'd love the chance to do some MD'ing, fishing, etc. I'm a Utah man, so beach hunting is out of my element -- not that I'm not going to try it anyway!

Just to be safe, is there a site or link that kinda gives the "rules" or whatnot about etiquette, laws, etc? I want to make sure I'm not stepping on any toes or getting myself arrested. I've tried searching here, but have had no luck.

Thanks in advance!

Hunt away but stay out of the dunes, the DNR takes sea oats pretty seriously since they hold the dunes together to help orevent erosion. The only other no no are turtle nest you might see marked with yellow caution tape and you will be fine! Good luck!

dude, ya gotta detect at the beach!

just stay off dunes and vegetation.

wear sunscreen

only take bellybutton rings if the lady is asleep

Well, I'm here and have been pretty much skunked at Jacksonville beach. Two four hour trips netted me a little bit of clad. I'm using my new etrac, and of course I'm sure I'm missing things that a pro would probably find, but overall I'm a little bummed.

Please tell me I'm just not at a good spot...? What beach should I go to?

Thanks in advance!

That's about all I have fine there in last 2 years other than a tungsten my last trip and a nice silver men's ring with ice about 2 years ago. Many looters scan that short section of beach.

don't be bummed, any day at the beach is a good one

This is true :)

My batteries died and I left my charger and my regular battery holder back in Salt Lake City...

Back to being bummed it is!

All man that's a bummer. I'm working 12 hour days for next 9 days or I would come hunt too! Is there any sand stripped off beaches?

That's what PTO and sick leave is for -- Just sayin'... As for the sand, I live in Landlocked, Utah and wouldn't know a stripped beach from a fully clothed one. It's pouring rain right now, and I'm driving two hours south to KellyCo to pick up a charger. Those guys kick ass, by the way.

That is funny since I had my annual review yesterday and am at 2.06% for my unexcused absences and am only allowed 2%. I think someone has lost my dr's excuses somewhere. I have to get with HR to haggle it out today, I hope I don't wind up with plenty of "free time" to detect!
