What can I say, but you are holding significant piece of WWII history in your hands. The maps to me as a military veteran are priceless. As a Retired Air Force Flight Engineer, I have flown many trips to Iwo Jima 1984-88, taking supplies out to the remote Coast Guard station there. The island was intimidating to me, rough and rugged, looking at those steep black sand beaches, always made me think of the brave men charging up those beaches.
Even to this day efforts by the Japanese to return their war dead continues, as the many caves are sealed due to the battles, they are numerous, and explored cautiously due to live ordinance still there.
The Coast Guard station is no longer manned today and the Iwo Jima is an Japanese air base.
