If you still can't bring yourself to dig clad.....all I can say is "Bless your heart"....You're makin' this easy for me and I'm grateful.

It's OK....Just stand in front of the group and say "My name is (insert name here) and I dig clad coins".......

Money...is money....is money. You don't need an alchemist to turn copper into silver. This is the new face of TH'ing. Embrace it and you can do well.

ok..ok.. so what will become of the silver.......how much is it going up in value? I am in this hobby for the thrill of the find........I see what your doing.......What is your money value $$$$ gain ??? and if you had to sell it how long would you wait, and how would you sell it?? It is smart.......but I'm scared of the obsession that it might give me.
I feel some junk coins are just worth it's weight, would you ever melt it??? When is a coin to far gone?

Vector, I just figure Id rather have the siver than the clad. Im planning on hoarding it for many many years, hopefuly silver will be $50 oz in 20-30 years & I have a trunk full of the stuff by then. And its all free except the cost of batteries & fuel! Never thought of doing this til I read this thread, thanks fer the new obsession 6000! ;D

sorry i was thinking coin-roll hunting...

coin-roll hunting is different than turning dug money to silver.......coin roll is not for me.......sorry for grouping the two. I guess you could do both.......but I would go crazy!!!!!

Yeah.....I usually only buy silver...but those buffalos were nice ones and they were inexpensive. I bought 2 more today...a 1916 and a 1918....both very nice ful 4 digit dates with Liberty seperated from the rim....for 5 bucks ppd for the pair. I've also bought 9 more halves since that picture was taken.

I love clad. Every time I get 4 bucks worth....I got a walker on the way. The dealer's out of them now, but I'm keepin' an eye on his seller page.

I don't mind digging clad if there's quarters to be had. I can dig quarters all day & never get sick of it. Right now I'm saving my clad to buy detector gear, but I may start buying Walkers and such. I've heard this idea before and think it's great.

My plan is also a long term plan. The silver I have bought I have been very careful not to pay too much, and in many instances have bought below melt value. I could probably reallize 10 percent profit already on those purchases, but I agree....silver and gold will increase in value over the next 15-20 years. It's tripled in value over the last 15 years, heck, it's risen 30 percent since last October when I started into this hobby again after a long hiatus.

Just to clarify. Silver peaked in the late 70's and early 80's. It has not come back to anywhere near its high back then. It did go very low a few years ago and has come back quite a bit. I am not disagreeing with your idea. I hold all my gold and silver and also think in the long run it is smart to do so. The saving grace for silver will be if someone finds an industrial use for it. Lets hope this happens :)

What the Hunt Brothers did with the silver market in the early 80s artificially inlated the market, and was found to be illegal. Thmarket adjusted itself after that and stabilized. Guys who bought at those prices are still licking their wounds.

Silver was around 4 bucks an ounce for years after that little trick. I still think it's cheap at 12 bucks an ounce.

I LOVE CLAD!!!!! Spends just like the paper stuff. Funny thing is I dont know anyone who wouldnt pick up a $5.00 bill if they saw itm on the ground, but god forbid you should dig up a pocket full of coins. Doesnt make sense to me!

Hoping to transform my clad to silver soon as well.

BTW that is a sweet pile of transformation you have there.

One thing is for sure. I think no one much around my area likes digging pennies and nickels. I have certainly been finding a bunch of em lately. Too bad lots of the pennies are corroded badly and I have to throw away, however can't wait to see em transformed to something shiny soon.
