It's OK to dig clad.....click and see......3 weeks worth of clad transformed

If you still can't bring yourself to dig clad.....all I can say is "Bless your heart"....You're makin' this easy for me and I'm grateful.

It's OK....Just stand in front of the group and say "My name is (insert name here) and I dig clad coins".......

Money...is money....is money. You don't need an alchemist to turn copper into silver. This is the new face of TH'ing. Embrace it and you can do well.

Very nice, Wyatt. Clad can turn into silver. You have proved that. Thanks for the pic.

I know I beat this topic to death......but I read all the time "I never dig clad"....as though for some of us....maybe it's beneath our dignity. The same folks will spend 5 hours finding a lonely mercury dime.

Would I have rather dug these coins.......of course.....but it doesn't work that way anymore.

I'm in the process of tumbling my clad...I haven't counted it yet, but it should be a sizable amount. I was thinking that buying some old coins may be the way to go.

Where is the best place to buy them? Should you buy a variety of coins, buy only the good deals, or would it be a good idea to try to buy (or start) a set?

Re: It's OK to dig clad.....click and see......3 weeks worth of clad transfomed

I buy any silver I can buy below melt value...or right at melt value. Sets can become expensive, and once you've completed the set....if you sell it, the next thing you know it's on eBay....being broken up and sold coin by coin in order to maximize profit.

I'm buying bullion because I think silver is still way too cheap. Some folks like slabbed coins......but I hate 'em. I like my treasure "raw".

It all depends on the person.

That's the way I see it, Sherm..money is money....and clad is everywhere.

I don't go looking for clad, but I find my share and it sits in a jelly jar. Wondered what to do with it until now. What a great way to turn cruddy clad into something else to hand down to the kids! Bravo !

Re: It's OK to dig clad.....click and see......3 weeks worth of clad transfomed

Hi Gribnitz.....

I set out tonight intentionally seeking clad....and I just dig quarters. By the time you can feel the weight in your pocket.....you've got over 5 bucks.

I like finding old ones.....but have about run out of sites for now. Been beatin' the daylights out of the local park....can't find anymore silver there....and cleaned up over 90 dollars worth of quarters there........so I needed to find some dough.

I like doing the yards of private residences. Young folks are afraid you'll find something of value, and if anybody says "no".....it's usually the younger set. Older folks don't usually care. They've already figured out that they ain't takin' nuthin' out of this world that they didn't come in with.

thats great if you know everyone in the bank but in a big town they will laugh you out of the valt hay mr banker can i look over your coins give me a brake mike in atlanta

Re: It's OK to dig clad.....click and see......3 weeks worth of clad transfomed

The coins aren't from the bank, Mike....they're from coin dealers. The bank gets the crappy clad....I get paper money.....and buy from hobbyist dealers who sell their stuff cheap.

Re: It's OK to dig clad.....click and see......3 weeks worth of clad transformed

Thats all I end up diggin is clad & the occasional ring or pendant, Ive got a big jar full of the stuff! I think thats a great idea to buy silver coins 6000! Coin dealers, eh? I may be askin too much but can anybody give me an idea of how much they go for, say mercs & WLQ's & halfs? Whats the most you'd pay for any one of these coins? Theres a pawn shop around the corner that also buys & sells coins I can check out tomorrow. ;D

Re: It's OK to dig clad.....click and see......3 weeks worth of clad transformed

The best bet may be to find a local dealer. You can find guys at flea markets selling carded coins in this area. I've used eBay to buy this stuff.......and it's really easy to pay too much on there....watch the postage.

I paid 11 bucks for the silver dollar, 4 bucks each for the walkers and franklins, 3 bucks each for the standing libs, 8 bucks for a nice 06 Barber half......and 2.50 each for the 2 nice, full date buffalo nickels.

My daughter wanys a new Ace 250 machine because her machine does not have a screen. So I her to find clad and get the money for the Ace that way. Last week we found $25.31 in clad. It may take 8 to 10 weeks but she can get her new Ace 250 from found money. She is 8 and likes my whites because it tells me what I'm digging,

I'm workin' on it Nana. It's got a little over 2 pounds of silver coins in it now.

Glad to see your progressing and finding more stuff. I remember you as the horseshoe and bullet queen last fall. ;D

I wish you nothing but the best.

Last year I cashed in enough clad to pay for a weekend at the Outer Banks(off season) and to pay for the meals for my wife and I. People are always teasing me about my hobby until i tell them that story. Buying silver is a great idea

Clad Coins Have Been Very Very Good To Me. I dig clad and I am proud of it. If it were not for clad sometimes all I would dig would be trash. ;D

Re: It's OK to dig clad.....click and see......3 weeks worth of clad transformed

OK, Ive only been detecting a little over 5 months with about one month that I was too busy at work or it was too hot. Counted up my tumbled clad last night (LQ's coins too), no pennies, just quarters, nickels & dimes & ended up with $155, almost 1200 coins! Im sure we've dug at least that many pennies but I just dump those with my pocket change. Went to the pawn shop/coin dealer on the corner today & spent $50 of it on silver. Dont know if I got a good deal or not but bought 6 WL halves, 2 Franklin halves, 5 SL quarters & 2 Barber quarters for $50. He said in a few days he'll have a lot more bulk silver coins so I'll go in & spend another $50 or so. Clad into silver! I like it! ;D
