It's a long shot I know, but

I would love your thoughts on this very toasted coin/copper that I found along with the button in my previous post. It measures almost 34 mm and is only 1.56 mm thick. You can see there was some detail on it, but you can't make anything out. I doubt seriously we can get an ID on it, but I still would love to hear your thoughts.

I just noticed that in the right photo towards the right center at the top, there looks like there is an eagle or rooster on something?

Like you said, a long shot. To me it looks like theres a word in the upper right and maybe a date in the lower left, like a draped bust half cent would have. LONG SHOT

Yup .. pretty much just a cruddy copper disc now.

Well, to confirm or eliminate various possible identifications, you could measure your disc to see if its diameter matches up with any known coins. Also, check whether it is made of copper or brass, as a coin would usually be copper and a flatbutton would be brass. Or couse, I ordinarily would not suggest making even a tiny nick in a coin or button to check for metal color, but your find is so corroded I think its dollar-value is worth less than knowing its ID. Feel free to disagree.
