In TN And near us was a 1796 house. I got permission by the original family that still lives there. Also I only had about 30 minutes their. And this is what I found. And an unknown bullet with rifling

Also the bullet doesn't have a hollow bottom

Also I don't know what the spike is. It has a square top

The bullet is 20th century. The spike looks to be an old railroad spike. A very nice find. The Confederates used them a lot as tent pegs. Don't know about yours until it's cleaned up some.

Nice work! You're doing great!

What features would make it a confederate tent spike. Also it was very deep about 8 inches. Thank you!

And they said that I can come over there to metal detect any time so I will update soon

Success on scoring a permission and finding some old stuff!:hello2: Love them big old spikes. I have dug a bunch this year from the fields. Did you keep the lawn intact? Just checking my young friend. We all hope this is just a first stepping stone on your pathway to becoming the Indiana Jones of T-net! Without all the drama of course.:laughing7: Keep after it and before long I reckon you'll be posting better finds than rusty old stuff. Military buttons, 1800's coins, old lead bullets, etc. Keep us posted!:headbang:

Good luck on your permission. I am running some old hand forged spikes through electrolysis now. I bet the house has a privy hole and trash pit somewhere.

Congrats on your permission and finds! Spike could be an old railroad spike. Have some similar that were found near old RR tracks that are gone now. Second pick is a blade off an old sickle bar. Bet that rang up nice! Looks like a good spot. Good Luck with your future hunts. Wish I started when I was 13:icon_thumleft:

One under your belt. 100% success rate so far.....

Now keep digging for the good stuff.

Thanks for identifying them!

I'm not sure what the bullet caliber is either
