First of all this not political so let’s not go here, serious problem occurring and it’s time we the people do something. Folks u may enjoy the social media channels, but they got to big and need to understand enough, shutting people off for no real reason, I’ve heard things metal detecting language, abbreviations we use, and this is ridiculous, yes and even the word whites which is or was a long standing worldwide metal detecting company, yeah I’m getting mad. Folks there are robots on those channels eliminating people accounts because of such. I’m not here to start problems. But I suggest to you all it’s time to leave those arrogant idiots, start over go to a more free open forum, they cross the lines, when I heard this from a podcast, one reason was because he kept using the word whites, whites was a company, enough said. Yes the scumbags are continuing there evil ways. The rest up to you, I care about everyone sad, sad state

The beauty of choice. A business has a right to choose who it does business with (and make no mistake, social media sites and the like are businesses) and the user has a right to not use their sites.

There's really absolutely no controversy here. As a private business, they are not violating anyone's right to free speech.

Just like Tnet has rules, violate them and you can be banned. If one doesn't like Tnet's rules, they don't have to use it.

In my opinion, the world was a lot less divided and happier prior to social media and we all could use less social media.

As an aside 49er12, have you seen the documentary, "The Social Dilemma"? Truly a must see for anyone who uses the internet, it's a scary insight into how the internet is dividing us all, not bringing us together. https://www.thesocialdilemma.com/

Not disputing crossing the lines, but it’s beyond that, I’m an independent thinker I have no left or right, but my brain see the obvious your opinions matter but so does everyone else, I don’t claim to be a scholar, but I do no as a middle age, army person, there’s serious problems, and it has to be told nobody is to big to be brought down, companies included, appreciate your comments, respect others as well , good day my detecting friends

My point is simply and very tired of the so called social media empires, when someone was using the word whites, folks in case you didn’t no whites was a big metal detector company, and the abbreviation h.h. Was used which means happy hunting where taken as a German term , I leave it at that. Now these robots have to stop, if you folks are that stubborn and pathetic to see what’s going on then so be it, it takes others longer than others, and I’m telling you this only because it was on a metal detecting podcast recently for years now, nonsense, wake up folks, don’t complain if it happens to you, oh what happened I just use abbreviations like years prior, anyhow, sorry to bother the few that think I’m foolish

So, was this on Facebook or Nextdoor or some platform like that?

Those places would not necessarily be aware that "White's" was a metal detector manufacturing company and "hh" is our short hand for "Happy Hunting".

O.K., lets follow the thought that, as a "Private" business you have the right to chose to who it does business with and a user has a right not to use them. That's fine, and I'll go with that. So...say I own a small bakery, and you want a wedding cake, and lets say I am a religious guy whos view does not follow yours, can I politely decline but direct you to another bakery? or do you now sue me and put me out of business for violating your rights while at the same time ignoring mine?, after all my business was private remember, but I'm not allowed to choose how I conduct it based on my belief and feelings? What is different is that social media "Private companies", seem to have protection from being sued for anything they do or not do, Hmmmm... I agree fully with GoDeep in that we can very well do better with much less social media. Just one of many examples out there. Just saying fella's.....

Your statement are correct about both, but all of a sudden robots didn’t no that, please this is metal detecting, any normal person knows that but why did they do that, why, no excuse

No offense, but truly independent thinkers dont use social media in the first place. Blue faced phone zombies love to be controlled. It's their dream! Apps to tell them when to eat and sleep, why not google a you tube video to see how its done! Then follow what the person on you tube did! Order food on a blue screen!
But to sum it up here in RSA most shops have a sign...it reads... "right of admission reserved"

Everyone we are missing the point, it’s about whites name brand, and using h.h. These been around for years, let’s stop apologizing for the evil ways, that’s why we are in the situation now, because nobody fights back, terrible just terrible

49er12- What some might not yet recognize today are the natural definitions of right and wrong. A right is anything that does no harm to a another person's body, freedom, or property. Anything that does harm to another person's body, freedom, or property is a wrong. You have the to right to feel offended, though you do not have the right to be not offended. But, if you are violated bodily, coerced into relinquishing your freedom, or stolen from, you have the right to defend yourself against that violation with force equal to the force used by the violator. This is all only only Natural. Pretty simple really, but these definitions are not included in most people's education.

I am of the opinion that these natural concepts are intentionally obsfucated or withheld form the general population and likely because some want to keep "Us" in the darkness. Your mileage may vary.

Turn it all off. You win. They lose. They cant track you, edit you, delete you, mine your data. Big tech is as big as you want it to be. I only use the internet for a handful of sites. I use a vpn.

They don't know any better. Not ignorance, the word ignorance comes from the same root as word "ignore".

When information is unavailable or withheld it is called "nescience".

You didn't answer my earlier post.

What "platform" were you on??

I don't bother with social media. I watch metal detecting, bottle digging and animals on youtube but don't put anything up there.

There is a difference, social media like FB, Google, Twitter are traded on the stock exchange and as such are public business, not a private business, Treasurenet is owned by Forum Foundry who are a private business.

As you know, your hypothetical isn't a hypothetical, "Masterpiece Cakeshop vs. Colorado Civil Rights Commission" where the Supreme court ruled that yes, a business can refuse to do business with people they disagree with.

Big private (or publicly traded) companies don't have any immunity from suit though, it may seem that way, but they don't. What they do have though is deep pockets to litigate lawsuits.

Fakebook and tweeter are the worst things known to mankind other than deadly diseases and viruses. I have zero interest in Fakebook, tweeter, and instadoofusgram.
Nothing but drama in that mess. A waste of electricity and time. "Reality TV" is another scourge not worth electricity or your time. No good can ever come of letting children, teens, and easily-influenced people associate with the filth of online social media.

There is a difference between Tnet and FB as far as being publicly traded, but as far as the law currently views it, they are the same in so far as both can choose rules that fit them and choose who they do business with (as long as it doesn't violate discrimination laws). Some want that to change. But one needs to be careful what they wish for though. A conservative media site, (or a liberal one) or a conservative publicly traded business (or a liberal one) may lose their right to pick and choose who they do business with or what rules they implement.

I think this thread is diverging a bit more into big businesses having a monopoly, which the average person agrees can be a problem, but as far as should a business have the right to choose who they do business with?

For me, yes they should, and the Supreme Court Affirms.

Not disagreeing with you, just stated there is a difference between public and private. A business can refuse to do business with someone wearing a certain type of shirt or hat, we can also refuse to give our business to businesses that violate our standards. I have already told wife we will not be spending any money in Bed Bath and Beyond or kohls any longer, they are added to other businesses I refuse to give my money to.

I am constantly banned on FB for my views on some things which they say violate community standards even though when I report someone posting nude pictures of their selves or pictures of someone having throat cut they say it doesn't violate their community standards. I would go further but don't want to violate rules on politics.

Censorship is an ugly thing, period. I post metal detecting videos on YouTube once in awhile. When people comment on the video, I reply to their comment. The only problem is YouTube immediately deletes most of my replies! Why? No clue, since they ignored my inquiry as to why they are doing it. I have never made an obscene comment or anything political that I can recall. But they continue to delete almost all of my replies, which makes me look like a jerk for appearing to ignore the comments. That's what happens when a company gets too big for it's britches. They think they can control people so they'll come over to their way of thinking. Just my take on the problem...
