Hello everyone,

I have purchased this thing as a preform axe. But it is not made of stone but of fine, uniform layers of clay, dirt, or something else. it is very heavy aprox. 800 gram. The measures are 5 5/8" long and 3 3/8" wide. The layers can be lifted with a fingernail, but I don't want to do this, I don' wat to destroy anything.

What could it be? A fake? I don' believe at such an object.

Unfortunately I don't know more about it. I believe, it is a real artifact. Have anyone an idea?

Thank you very much - PB-Eins

to use that as a tool would require pounding it...which would destroy it in seconds

Looks like an ironstone concretion to me. These often break open and the softer center disintegrates, leaving only the hollow shell.
