So it took a cupple of months of saving and backbreaking yard work. But I finally made the purchase. Sort of a birthday gift to myself. I got the equinox 800. I can’t wait to get up to my favorite spot and see if I’ve missed anything with my old trusty MXT. I mainly got it so I could hunt some lakes and streams with some sort of ID. From all the videos I’ve watched it seems like the right choice. The place I hunt has a lot of trash. From nails,pull tabs & bottle caps to melted blobs of aluminum from the fire pits. I’m heading up there tomorrow. Wish me luck.

I've come close to buying an 800 several times. My wife says I don't hunt enough to need it. She's right, but I WANT ONE! Gary

Make sure you have the latest software upgrade. It can help in the iron and melted aluminum to have the expanded (higher) iron bias settings. If it's set to F2 @ 5 or higher, you won't dig as many bottle caps either.
