Is this one a round ball shot?

I found this stuff at a pounded yard that was a Civil War battle site. Pay attention to the middle round ball. Is this a musket ball? The one on the left is and the one to the right is probably a cannister round, but the middle one has a small wire protruding from it and doesn't seem to be lead, although it may be. What do you all think?

I think this other thing is a percussion cap. I found the last picture on the internet. Do you all agree?

That would be a tiny tire :icon_scratch:
Looks just like the many percussion caps I have dug :dontknow:

If it is lead it is a sprue so take a magnet to it and see if it is iron or lead. Iron? Probabliy not a rifle ball. Lead, it is a sprue left from molding the ball. Monty

I was pretty sure that second item was a percussion cap after seeing a photo of one that had been dug. I believe the round ball may in fact be either a sprue left attached or a dumbell shot half as bigcypresshunter suggested. If anyone else wants to chime in though, I would like to hear your thoughts.

I believe those dumbell shots are a very rare find during the CW. I dont know much about them.

Cool. If that is what this is...I wish both pieces were still connected. Still great to find something like that though.

What I mean is that there was debate as to whether they were even used during the American Civil War. :dontknow:

I'm still thinking about this thing. I am pretty sure the protrusion is iron based as it looks to be oxidized (rust). So, I can't imagine it being a sprue. I think it served some other purpose other than shot, but I can't figure out what? So, I give up. Dang I hate failure. Monty

Its definitely not a sprue. I agree with you that its iron. Were old ball pullers made from steel or brass? :dontknow: Mine is brass.

It looks like a Round Fishing Lead weight, the iron piece is the Broken eye or swivel ;D

tire valve cap and end of wire seal.
Doe's look like a tyre valve cap, it would have a threaded inside if it is one, and only the poster can tell us that :dontknow:

How small would that tire be?
