Went for a walk in the creek out back of my house. Found a bunch of old brick and glass shards around, definitely going to detect it. The creek is right across the street from a railroad that was used in the Civil War era. Never thought about people going to the creek to grab a drink until about a week ago. I was only there for 20 minutes just eyeballing the creek. Found this and seems like it may be modern but not sure. Thanks for looking! Cheers! Swing it, Dig it! IMG_1749.JPGIMG_1750.JPG

My thought is that's Flow Blue pottery from the 19th century, dunno.

Check the slopes for bottles dumps also, HH!

Thanks guys! Even if this particular piece wasn't old, I found obvious signs of very old brick so I think I might have to detect!

Looks like post 1900 transfer ware to me. Flow blue usually has a blurred look to it, at least the flow blue that I dig has. Keep scouting the site for some contextual artifacts like makers marks on the porcelain or some embossed bottle shards or even bottle finishes (Neck and lip pieces) Then you will narrow down the era.
