Is this coin machine find really GOLD?!

I would send it in to PCGS for authentication and grading. They'll put in in a plastic "slab" which will protect it from abuse. As I said do NOT clean it with anything at all. That is VERY important. Just send it in to PCGS for authentication. Then if you want to sell it look on ebay and see what others of comparable condition have been sold for and you will be able to list it for the right price.

BOY, and I thought I hit it big yesterday with 70 dollars and 22 cents in a CoinStar...Yep, two Mexican coins one marked 50$ and the second one 20$. the twenty-two cents were 2 US dimes and 2 US pennies.

Gold coins are not necessarily the most valuable. Always check the values and never assume they are worthless. Never clean your coins at all. Huge mistake many people make.

Mexican coins don't have "dollar" on them, got photos?

Lucky dog!
You should play the lottery or get some scratch tickets while you’re at it. Nice recovery!!

I could see "some" coin dealers trying to low ball you on that one. Getting it graded is a must.

I'd say Banner find for a Coinstar hunter.

Appraisal #2: Took the coin to a high end jeweler that deals in coins as well. Wow! He had a case full of treasure coins from the shipwrecks. I wiped up the drool before he saw it. As for my coin, he rated it a little better. Could go to collector for a premium price in the right setting. But basically $5-600, he could go either way on suggesting having it graded. I went on eBay to compare it to "Sold Items" , not asking price, which could be very misleading I think. People could ask for 100K, but sold items tells what people were actually willing to spend. I think it compares favorably with the 64's.

Great find for sure. Did you compare it to one on Ebay ?

Thanks. Compared several. I've seen M64s that look better and M65s that don't look as good. Since my last post I have been to another well reviewed coin dealer and sent hi-res photos to an auction house. Coin dealer said 64-65, and made a standing offer of 80% of graded value. The auction house said graded or not I could start out asking as high as $800. Decided to send it to NCG for grading. There is a big jump in value from 64-65, about double on the NCG listings. Since I got it for absolutely $0 I can't lose either way, even after the cost of grading.

The other day I stuck my fingers in a coin counter. BINGO My first find ever in one. Three Dimes all post 64 and one canadian penny . MY FIRST FINDS in them

Keep us posted when it comes back from grading. Finding any coin that can grade and make it into an NCG slab is a pretty amazing feat!

The coin is off to NCG. Being sent in by West Bay Traders, a well known outfit here on the Treasure Coast. Saves me having to join the NCG, pack, ship, insure, etc. Very thorough folks. They tested it at 90%, photographed the coin and me, 2 examined it and seemed to think it was worth the effort. About a month turnaround time.
