Is this an old metal shotgun shell?

The size makes me think it could be a shotgun shell. Not as big as a 12 gage though...There are several five point stars engraved all over the surface that you need to have to zoom in on to see.

No it looks like the end was flat

Need a better look at the ends. One obviously would be wide open and the other solid with a rim of some kind. Also a primer in the center or a small hole where one used to be.

I am unfamiliar with any bullet casing embosed or engraved with anything on the sides. Only on the end with the primer would be any markings imo.
