Oh wait! They're not supposed to be alive, right? Couldn't help myself. My mascot for today's dig, his name is "Tom". He was trying to pick a fight with my truck. Who would have thought?
We raised Narragansetts and I really miss a pair we had for maybe five years - Fred and Wilma. Most turkeys (IME) are pretty vapid. But both Fred and Wilma were personable and friendly. A coyote took Wilma and Fred went into mourning (I swear) and eventually ranged too wide calling for her in the weeks after and also met a vicious end.
What a handsome gent. Have a few regular wild turkey's around here. They spend the cooler parts of the day waging war with their reflections. So far my truck bumper and front storm door are still standing.
In real life, this week has been OUTSTANDING for digging! I found a native American obelisk petroglyph. I'm trying to get the mud off to see all the carvings on it. Lots of damage from a plow, but it's wild.
