Is this a Tudor button?!

Found this at a site in the US with late 1700s to early 1900s so I feel like my guess doesn't fit any of that. Hope someone here can help.

It looks very early. Considering your location could even be French, I would say 17th century or so.

When I visited some of the forts in upper NY State a couple years ago which the French occupied, they had quite a bit of nice stuff on display from diggings there. The pottery for instance, is very different than that of the English from about the same period of time.

I would say so, especially given the patina.

Hate to be that guy but can you elaborate on why the patina leans you in that direction? I'm trying to get as much info about this as I can and haven't been able to find much online.

It takes a very long time for copper to get a green patina, especially that deep of a patina. Modern copper will not be green.
Green is good.

It's not a typical English Tudor Button. Could be French but then I can't date it.
