found this earlier today ive looked it up in my book but cannot seem to find.. it is fired around .53-.54 w and .93 L ..there are some. 52 cal that looks like this one ..not 100% ..it may even be a modern muzzleoader..almost looks as if has a copper jacket. 20190926_161852.jpg20190926_161857.jpg

Yes. But it doesn't look fired. The seam in it may be from being field cast.
 

Yep,Sharps all day. they were made in both a .52 and .54 cal so your measurements are spot on. Nice save :icon_thumright:

That civil war .52 Sharps bullet definitely has been fired. If you super-enlarge the first photo, you can see 3 of the Sharps Rifle's 6-groove rifling marks.

Yes, it is a .52-caliber. The Sharps Rifle was a breechloader, so its unfired bullets measure about .54" in diameter. Firing squeezedit down the the diameter of the rifle's .52" bore. Now, the thickness of this dug bullet's lead-oxide patina and the rifling ridges add .01 to .02-inch to its fired diameter.
