Is this a Revolutionary War 16 regiment button?

I found more navy buttons today along with this suspect 16 regiment button. I’ve found these navy buttons earlier in month and posted them. I was told they were probably 1780’s maybe just after the war.
Anyhow I’ve found Stuff at this sight from mid 1700’s so i know it was in existence during the war.
If it is from the revolutionary war it will be my first button found with direct connection to the war!
Pretty cool button nonetheless with number 16 and eagle with a tad gilt still left.
I believe back may say Philadelphia

Backmarks on buttons started to show up around 1800. I think that button is probably 1810-1820 or so. The anchor buttons are French Navy, Rev war.

Ok, thanks but a shield with 16 inside it?
That’s gotta mean something military I assume.
Bummer it’s not of the era though.

More than likely American 16th regiment, probably infantry. I can't make the button out too well.

Smokey is correct... your button is a US Army Infantry 16th Regiment button. That ID dates it from the early-1800s, long after the end of the Revolutionary War. Micro-examintion of your photo of it shows it is pictured and listed as button R16Ga in the Albert book on Historical American uniform buttons. Your button's backmark says "Armitage Phil*a" -- and the Albert book says George Armitage made his first US Infantry buttons in 1806 and 1810, continuing every few years until his death in 1826.

One small correction... my research on dating buttons shows that backmarks start appearing on brass US Military buttons "about" 1788.
