I'm going with some sort of latch and that is the hook mechanism. Or some part to a machine that uses it as a hook. The back side curve that leads to the hook looks like that is where it rolled down to the hook.....................JMO.....................and the hole where the eye is you sure that was not a bullet hole putting the duck down when it lost its wings??? :tongue3: :laughing7:.........................GTP

I think I see what tigger meant. Looks close, but not quite the same. Would have to be a trivet or some other item having that pin, which this does not seem to have.

It does look very similar but I can see the difference in it. I'm taking it to a shop tomorrow that has a lot of trivets, hopefully I will see something that matches it. I'll post my findings.

Lol, I don't think it's a gator! I looked at several trivets today, some were similar but didn't have the pin on the back, so I'm still in the dark about it.

I'm confused - you mean the cone like foot in the first picture? Trivet feet come in all shapes and sizes, but to give you an idea, here is an example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Cas...ultDomain_0&hash=item3cc2cff94f#ht_1486wt_754

The older ones have taller feet, and vintage/modern ones may or may not have rubber covers on the feet.
There's lots of trivets on ebay to look at.
Hope that helps!

Tigger, there is a little pin on the back side that looks like it was attached to something, maybe some trivets are made like that. Thank you for the link, I will check it out.

Prolly not a duck, then. They float. Even dead ones. :icon_pirat:
Dead gators float too, for about a minute or less. :tard:
Dead Gators float,I paddled one as a kid in the St.John River as a kid in Jax.They smell pretty funky!!!!!!!!!!
They only float for a short period so you need to jump in the water and retreive them before they sink. I was of course referring to a recently killed gator in deep water. I would imagine after they start bloating up and stink they would float back up again again lol but by then its way too late to eat them. So we are both correct. But how would I know this? Somebody must have told me. :duckie:

Thanks, the pins do look about the same; like you I wonder about the eye; maybe this is the backside of one and the eye was on the other piece.
