If you’re showing both sides of it, I’m not convinced it’s a button. It seems to have designs on both sides, and no sign of where an attachment loop might have been.

In your first picture at 9 o’clock, I can see the lower half of a letter ‘E’, above the outline of what looks like the top of an armorial, and another letter with a single upright (or possibly an 'N') the other side of it:

In your second picture, on the lower half at 7 o’clock I can see what looks like the outline of a large arrow pointing upwards, with perhaps a double-stemmed letter or ‘Roman’ numeral ‘II’ in the pointed portion:

Likely a button. A coin wouldn't crumble on the edges.
Nope definitely a coin, I see the letter E for an inscription around 1 edge & detail on both sides.

PS. cross-over post with Red-Coat. It's a coin.

I wouldn't question either you, or Red-Coat, let alone both. Your opinion was up, when I posted my thoughts. It wasn't argumentative. Haven't seen too many coins with crumbling breaks before. Thanks for the correction.

Could be a triangle also, looks like it might have the same markings on each side. An interesting one!

Thanks I never even noticed the letter

Just found this detecting a felid in Massachusetts about the size of a half cent but thinner. There is some detail but not sure what it is
Added more pics

Another tough one...thanks to Red Coat it might be this...based on measurements it could be close
Funny, I was going to throw out French as a best guess, but thought better of it, as I couldn't see anything I recognised.
Good call, I think....
