Hi All...Can anyone here tell me if this is a cannon ball...its about 12 - 14 lbs...flattened both ends and has a raised edge around the circumference. Found on the goldfields AU.

I don't know anything about Australian artillery, but I don't think by it's shape (the band around the ball) that it's a cannon ball, definitely not an American cannon ball. I don't think it would be for crushing gold ore either, but again I'm going by it's shape, which doesn't look to me like it's from a ball mill. Someone on here will know.

Sorry, but no, that ball is definitely not a cannonball. Absolutely no artillery balls had flat-spots, nor a raised band on the spherical body. You might enjoy reading the educational information about actual ("authentic") cannonballs, grapeshot balls, etc at the following website article:
