Since I'm close to getting the Excal 2...is there any word on a new version this year?
I know the Excal 2 is about a couple of years old, right? Well I guess I answered my own question,
since it's highly unlikely Minelab will turn around with a new one anytime soon.

Though...I think they might go crazy and bump the price to $1400 or something :o

Thoughts on where to order from? If I have a choice on getting freebies or a lower price..I'd take the lower price.
But if I'm not mistaken everyone has to price it the same, maybe instead of junk stuff, a discount applied to a new scoop would be good. :icon_thumright:

I have not heard anything of a upgrade on the Excal, but then I don't think I am in the loop anymore. Best we can hope for is a better warranty, or real customer service that counts! I would like to have the option to change coils or a waterproof Sov. GT.

As for the best place to order from, read between the lines of all the hype and if you smell a rat, order somewhere else. Some places toss in "freebies" and others don't charge for shipping. Some places let you choose the shipping carrier, like Fed Ex or postal instead of Lose'em UPS.

Excal II has been only out about 2 years or less, I personally highly doubt we will see a new model anytime soon................

I would love to be able to easily change coils like Sandman says, but only so I can switch to the WOT coil easily, I can't hardly stand to hunt with the tiny 10 inch coil, I am too use to using the large WOT and SEF Butterfly coils......

I second a waterproof version of the Sovereign GT as well.......

Minelab has been doing surveys about the Excal>>>>

I believe they are just in the thinking stage. I received a survey call from Becky recently and it centered around satisfaction, where do we go from here, what is good, what is bad.

I'm guessing here, but I do believe that something needs to be done with the electronics as new components and circuitry are almost making the manufacture of an Excal like building a TV with tubes.

When technologies advance, the quality of manufacturing old generation components tends to suck. I spent many years in Military Subcontracting of extreme technologies and I witnessed this happening there.

If Minelab sticks with the current design with limited changes, the reliability will continually sink due to components.

I have really mixed emotions here and hope if they do change the Excal it still carries the same characteristics that we love about it now.

I love the current design, wouldn't change it. I have had next to no failures in the 4 years I have owned 3 of them, I still own 2 Excals now, put them on straight shafts, added WOT coil to one and looking for a Sunray S-12 for the other Excal right now.....

I hear this EVERYWHERE
Right on customer service is at the top of the list for what counts. Then second a good warranty. But i think it will be a year or 2 before they bring out a new Excal. But like the Sovereign they have had about 5 different ones and to me they are all just about the same. And to me all the Excalibers are about the same.
