Is there a misunderstanding with a few explorer users?

Detector(s) used
Equinox 800 SE and DFX
I notice this starting to happen quite a bit. Someone buying a dfx asking for help, maybe a extra coil suggestion, or a program modification. What happens a couple, now actually more than a couple explorer users jump in start bragging about their detector, tell the person to sell their dfx, and also manage to toss a couple insults around! I started also going through posts involving other brands, Garrett, Fisher and others and have seen the same type of response on this forum and others.

It is funny which ever brand it is, they jump in and start attacking that brand. Even saw one on another forum where a guy who butts in a dfx forum was bragging and thanking dfx users for keeping their detectors so he could find everything and was referring to his friends and people he hunts with in a club!

Maybe some of us have other detectors then a Minelab because....that is what we want! Just a thought. I will not start throwing dumb insults.....that seems to be their game!

DFX-Gregg,

no matter what detector you use, I think
you must have confidence in it.

Pehaps that is what make some folks, "jump
in" and say theirs is better.

Perhaps it gives them more confidence. The
only ones who I think would mind, and get upset
, would be those who are not sure of the results they
are getting from their own detectors.

Just a thought.................

have a good un.........

I was actually thinking of going back to a few posts I have seen and quoting some of them! Not only would they see how silly they are acting they would see that their bragging often has nothing to do with the post! ???

Greg, sounds to me like you got Explorer envy... Its ok I understand... You got the DFX and you wish you would have plopped down the money for a real machine like the SE, but don't feel bad. While us Explorer users are finding historical and high value items, you DFX guys can find all the clad you can carry. :D :D :D

I'm just playing of course, and your the only one I give a hard time about that, mostly because I know you can take it and dish it back. ;D

I haven't noticed what your talking about, but I don't pay much attention to that sort of stuff either. I know a particular forum that you can't say anything bad about Whites products, and another you can't say anything bad about Tesoro products.

Look, simply put I don't care what machine you swing. I've hunted with many different machines in many different places. I like what the Explorer did for ME, not the brand name. I have been thinking about another machine for some crappy iron spots, and I'll probably get an older Fisher or a Whites M6. I have no brand loyalty, as long as they work and I've seen the M6 clean peoples clocks on finds (Rowdy at Pipsico) while I've seen the Explorer snatch some great finds that others passed... And I've seen the Tejons and Nautilus grab D E E P targets that nothing else will pick up....
Its all about what the detector does for ME.... Of course, on the flip side of that coin, it also all boils down to how much time do I want to put into learning the machine too! ;D

Dave I know with you its all for fun! Actually you were not one of the people I was referring to! Different when you make it obvious it is a joke..even though some may take it the wrong way...But i am referring to the ones...that whenever they see the dfx mentioned go out of their way to go after it! I am sure their responses will come when they see the post! Any thing with dfx has caused them to respond...we will see!

My thoughts are like Sherm's. Many have to put down others just to give themselves a ONE UP. It's silly an these people never seem to grow up. But I do the same to friends that drive Fords.

I just note the names and remember them for later reference.

I'v been missing this, or, it's been
in such a way, I havn't taken it like that.

IF someone does this,
please Report it to me.

I do not agree with running down anyones choice
of detectors.

O.K.

lets keep this post going ;)

FORDS

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I have a 2006 Ford Focus that is the biggest pile I have ever owned... Bought it brand new and the trim was all messed up, so I had that fixed within a week of purchase. Then at UNDER 20,000 the alternator went out! I went to get it fixed and get a rental and they said that because I had the trim fixed I was ineligible for a free rental! It went all the way to Ford corporate where someone had the sense to help me out. I ended up with a Ford F150 supercab for a week while they worked on the Focus. It still doesn't run right since then....

My old woman on the other hand has a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta and it is dang near unbreakable. She doesn't change the oil like she should (we are talking sometimes up to 10,000 miles! :o) and it still runs like a top!

cryptodave,

yes, I can understand that. Take that auto metal detecting
and others would question you choice of auto and perhaps
the metal detector your using.

Just keeping this on topic. ;) ;D

In the past I have owned a Relco, a Fishers, a Bounty Hunter, a Tesoro and 6 White's detectors. Most all of them did the job, what I wanted them to do, those that didn't I swapped for another detector. :)

As long as you can effectively use your detector it doesn't matter which brand you own.

Of course we all kid each other about the brand other than the one(s) we own. As long as it stays on the poke in the ribs, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, type of humor, I don't think anyone has a problem with it.

But if you say my detector sucks and I should get "your" brand, because it is better...... there is the report to mod button and the ignore button, you do have the option to use those. And you don't have to respond to their posts... it only fans the flames higher. I have seen it on other forums, where the flames get pretty high. ::)

Wow guys. Us little ole Explorer users are not that bad.
Actually I have and will always believe there is no one perfect or best detector for everyone. It has a lot to do with the type of detecting and how well the operator uses the machine. If he has confidence in his machine and finds metal and is happy , That is the machine for him. I have had my "Explorer II" for a year, I have found silver coins, gold Rings, a Reale, and a lot of clad. I understand my machine, have confidence in it, So it works for me. Would I reccommend you try one? Sure. Would I say it is the best one for you? Maybe, But only after you tried it, liked it, and got confidence in it.

Wouldn't have been me DFX-Gregg, I'm driving an ace 250, economy model. Takes care of the job I need it for. ;D ;D Starter model? Heck, this is probably as good as I'll ever get !! ;D

All I can say is that half of my finds, gold and silver, have been in places that hunters using one of the Explorer series has been. They leave behind gold, and silver that is near another non silver target.

Well Greg, all I can say to this observation of yours is: See? You learn something new everyday on internet forums. Isn't the internet great? For example: The Explorer tromps all other machines ;D ;D

(haha, seriously now, it is a great deep silver machine, and pretty durn good for all else, WHEN it's in the hands of someone who's learned the tooty-flooty-batty sounds)

No missunderstanding here. I wish everyone would buy a DFX. I am glad that the guy that bought mine did

EX2 x 2
Excals x 2
Fisher F-75
Fisher 1280X
Fisher CZ7a Pro
DFX- gone

erikk,

Dude you have more detectors than some dealers I know. I am truly jealous.
