People say silver is getting scarce. Well I just started last week. I was wondering if this is true? Those who have been doing this for a year or two, do you find that you are getting less silver than you used to get or is it the same? Just curious!

It is taking more and more effort to find it. It seems many are ignoring rules #1, #2... you do not tell anyone about Coin Roll Hunting. Every town around me has at least two full time CRHers. Great news hunh? I will keep it up until It becomes too scarce to find.

Golden Silver

I would attribute the declining silver finds to the publicity it has received as of late. In Numismatic News, US Coins, Coinage publications, there have been articles recently discussing finding silver in pocket change. In one of them (can't remember which), there is a monthly column where readers write in describing their recent finds. Also, I know everyone likes to do some show and tell, but posting pictures and dream box results makes it look too easy to the new CRH'er.

Nah.....not true. Just this group has averaged 86 1/2 troy pounds or 1038 1/2 troy ounces per month this year. This is just the folks in here that provide their totals. There are many more who don't provide totals plus the others that aren't even involved on this site. I personally know a couple of folks who do not even visit this site that are still pulling nice totals on a monthly basis.

Yes, there is still silver out there........go get it and good luck!!! Keep us posted.

i started last dec. I would get 10-12 40%ers and a few 90s per box. Out of like 29 boxes this yr i think 20 have been skunks or somethin like that. ANd the ones that werent where like 1-2 per. It sucks now. My road trips are what makes it worth it for me

I stopped doing half dollar boxes they are not worth it. Dime boxes produce more for me and that is not much. Road trips are the way to go.

I started half hunting in Feb 2007. Even then it was a mixed bag, sometimes good sometimes
skunk. It just seemed to dry up in my area in 2008 and I needed a break. Three weeks ago
I stopped by a bank and bought up what they had, about $60. I found 24-40% and 1-90%.
I took that as an omen and have ordered some boxes. We'll see what happens. I do believe
there is still alot of silver out there.
