IS IT OR ISN'T IT ????

I've has so many different opinions on it it's mind boggling. is it a cob or a real ( what is the difference ? ) here is all I know about it : it is not magnetic, it weighs 4.5 grams, it is 1/16 of an inch thick, and it still gives a good clear signal at both pulltab and zinc penny discrimination on my Tesoro Silver Sabre and it is a dark grey in colour. I used CLR on this also to dissolve the salt away to find out what it might be . it was found in the Keys
.

Cobs are the precursor to milled coinage. The Reale is a denomination (half reale, 1 reale, 2 reale, 4, reale, 8 reale). I've weighed in on my determination in the beach and shallow water forum. Finding it in the keys doesn't make it any more authentic than the ones that are sold on St. George St. here in St. Augustine. Despite the obvious cast marks and nonsensical dashes/scratches/etc. to obfuscate their efforts, the biggest give-away is the gold escudo pillar pattern on the reverse. The pillar and waves pattern differs from silver reales to gold escudos.

To you and all MD'ers out there. BE VERY CAREFUL about posting coins found in Florida. There is still a big arguement about who owns a lot of the coins found off the Florida coast.

Oh Bullcrap!
On the land it's yours! Period..
These friggin treasure hunters can't own
The whole damn ocean and beaches all up and down this treasure coast!
I'd love to see one of them just try and take one from me..., haha

They do not lease the beach between average high and average low tide. That belongs to the people...on up to the dune line.

Correct.
