I tried a patent number search, too, and came up with some sort of cultivator patented in 1866. None of its parts looked anything like that.

I think I'm gonna buy the "Squirrel Racing Gate" theory. At least, I like that one the best. :D
Same here, as far as the cultivator finds..."Squirrel racing gate Is the best" but no one else will buy it! :D :D STILL LOOKING.....

Three Squirrel Racing Gate. Lets be precise!

Come on guys, I'm totally disappointed with all of the suggestive comments. Anyone knows that its for the straightening and curing of Sciurus griseus RK's pelts. (Road Kill pelts of the common Grey Squirrel).

Mojjax, ? Do you have any "hint" of what this might be? Was it bought from a farm? I will soooo like to know what it is.

Sorry Michelle , I have no good ''hints'' . We had a local rummage sale a few weeks ago . The next day there was a ''free'' pile out front . I stopped to take a look - and there it was - the perfect ''whatsit''
and the price was right too !

The patent number search is probably the best bet to finding out what it is. The trick is decoding the correct format for the patent number, and PBK seems to be good at that.

Evidently, this is not a U.S. patent number, as the item shown does not match either the utility or design patent of that number. It may be a serial number or parts number.

Then we are down to hoping there is another number somewhere on the device that has yet to br shown.

This was a device used in the old days to make cane into fishing poles. You could guide the cane through the slots and could make two fishing poles at one time. ;D ::)
