I was detecting an old farm site today, one that has previously given me 1800's tools and horse tack (stirrups, bridle rosette, scythes, plow pieces, etc.). I found what I believe is an old wagon axle. You can see how the end tapers down. Also found an iron wheel liner (my second one of these thus far) and it looks as though it had seen plenty of action on the nearby quartz pebble beach. I've gotten plenty of the smaller and coarser hand forged colonial horse shoes in this area but this one seems like a larger 1800's animal. This was the first ocean bay port of my town and I am sure they were moving a lot of ship cargo inland from here.
