I found this fish shaped object on a early-mid 1800s farm site. The most recent finds I have made here date to the 1860s. It looks to be hollow and a small piece is broken off at the end. It is about 2" long.

First off, what kind of farm was it? And second, knowing that it was on some sort of farm, I can only assume it's some sort of hook that attaches to a horse or a wagon. Or, part of a furniture, which other people have already assume, however, I don't see any holes that screws could fit through. I'm guessing it's some sort of metal figure, so I have to only assume it's some sort of piece of equipment that was used to connect one object to another. Try cleaning it professionally, and maybe it has some more detail to help you figure out what sort of artifact you have found.
