I would say an old wood stove, top lid handle.

Huh, interesting, in a cool way. It looks as though the pin piece on the right hand side pivoted... Does this seem right? (being easier to tell as you inspect it in person). If so, how far? maybe a hinge of some sort?

Hello nhbenz. Yes the right hand side probably pivoted, the pivoting piece looks broke off. Thanks for the relpy. HH C9

Looks like a locking handle for a chain binder or some similar function.

Hmmmm, old digger. Those photos weren't there when I replied. The ones I find here are as I mentioned. They make them different in your part of the world.

Could this have something to do with steam?
The pin-like projecting piece in the middle of the round part after the hinge part kind of makes me think of a steam-valve relief or something like that. Maybe from a cooker of some sort...

Part of pressure cooker maybe? The "handle" thing closing the steam valve with the help of a counterweight?

Too far fetched?..........

Hello yaxthri. Maybe not too far fetched...you hit upon one of the odd features of this piece. It has a tapperd cone protrusion inside of a concave "seat" on its underside. Thanks for the reply and HH.

I'm gonna say it's either a "air intake regulator arm" for a stove, like a brooder heater, or a grate-shaker. Looks wood or coal stove related to me.
