Iron Bracket?

Found on a farm not far from a shed, where a battle took place in 1815 in Missouri. The story says they hitched their horses not far from where this was found. A couple links of chain were found nearby.

Any Idea what this bracket could be for?

Just saw this. Hey is the pic of the curved 'duck head' looking thing the same item as the bracket with the holes or a different relic? I didn't see it Monday when it was found. Someone on my thread suggested possibly a knife tang.
I showed a pic of that super heavy thing we brought back to a friend of mine who said it was off an old wagon or buckboard.

The duck head is the same thing, it has two holes in the handle and is curved at the top
