Just returned from a holiday in Costa Rica. Two days after I got there I found an Iphone buried in the sand. Managed to clean out the charging port and charged the battery. When turned on, a message came on the screen saying it was a lost phone and a phone number was also there. With the help of some of the locals managed to find the owner and return it. He was one of the local Red Cross lifeguards and had lost it two weeks earlier.
Another morning while detecting a woman came and asked me if I had found any ID on the beach. She said her husband had lost his drivers licence and military Id the previous night. I unfortunately had not found it at that time. Almost two weeks later I did find it buried almost six inches in the sand. With the help of social media I was able to trace him down, talk with him on facebook, get his address and it has been returned.

Awesome job, congratulations! :icon_thumleft:

Sounds like a "working vacation". Nice of you to go to the trouble to track the people down. Must be pretty stormy on that beach? Did you find any keepers for yourself?

Well done on those returns. I found a smart phone under 10 inches of sand in a volleyball court. I was able to charge it but it was locked and had no emergency numbers to contact. I was able to reset it to factory settings and get the owners number, but it had been disabled by the provider. It has been a circus to try to get it back to the owner, but I may have found a family member of the owner and will try to contact them.

I think most of us would try to return items when able to. I did find a gopro camera and 5 rings, 1 of which was a 1983 gold class ring

:hello2: Well done you!!

Good job, that's what we like to hear about good ethical people making good ethical decisions!
