Detector(s) used
garrett at pro
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
I've been thinking about joining for a while. I've been metel detecting for a few weeks now with a Garrett at pro. Before that I used a radio shack, lol. We all got to start somewhere. The oldest coin I've found so far is a 1952 penny. I live in Northern Michigan. Any idea what this is? All I know is that its brass.

Welcome to TNet from Illinois! A latch plate of some sort?

I dug a nearly identical one of those things just last week. I am thinking it is some kind of part to a window or drawer slide. I think this piece might have been mounted on each side of the window or drawer and the tang would act as a spring engaging something in a slide track.

The thin metal tang in the slot on mine is broke off in nearly the same place as well. I have not researched it much but I do know the permission dated to the 1850's. That would make this possibly much older than your 1952 penny. Good find!

Welcome to Tnet.

Looks like a reed of some kind. These are all from a vintage pump organ:
That looks like a winner Red-Coat.

red-meat, after looking at your images, I think that is exactly what this is. Thank you so much. I know that it isn't a big find, but the identifying of an object is almost the most exciting part
