First of all, im not sure when this piece was actually found, or even where it was found, we detect alot of sites.

But it actually was "re-found" in the back of my pick up truck bed thismorning. Sometimes I empty my finds bag back there and things get rolled around back there. When I picked it up I noticed lettering on it, and apon cleaning I seen it read "GENERAL WASHINGTON" with the GEN letters being broke off.

Let me be the first to say I do not believe George Washington lost this shoebuckle, maybe they were made to commemorate something? The only thing I know for sure is it was found around south central pa, because that is where we predominantly hunt.

Just thought it was a neat find, and was wondering if anyone had seen one before?

Very interesting find

After reading the other article/find, I'm thinking it may have been modeled after something Washington wore. The "General Washington" buckle, but that's only a swag.
