Reminds me of mercurochrome, something very common when I was a kid as an antiseptic for cuts. There was a glass rod inside attached to the cap, and the brown-red mixture would be rolled on your cut.

That is pretty cool I looked it up and it is an antiseptic that was eventually banned for containing mercury so be careful but cool find thanks for sharing

Definitely have no intention of opening could explain why under the black light it glows
 

Merthiolate burns like crazy when you put it on a cut. I'm old enough that I got that treatment when I was a kid. First they used iodine, before my time. Then merthiolate, then finally mercurochrome that didn't burn. Now we have neosporin that works best of all.
Another thing merthiolate was used for was staining gun stocks. It gives the stock a nice reddish look.
