Interesting mask

So I bought a basket of military surplus at a local auction and this was bagged in it. Does anyone happen to know what kind of mask this is? The rubber is in terrible shape. I can't tell if it's a gas mask of some kind or an SCBA mask for firefighting. Or something related to an airplane. Anyone recognize it?

Thanks,
Mox

Found it! USN Mark VI gas mask. Alas it's in awful shape.

Actually I did some more research and its actually a MkIII what what makes it especially interesting and really rare. (It's a shame it's totally thrashed) is that it apparently was modified for use as a shallow water diving mask for situations where a Mark V dive helmet was not really appropriate and that's why the Hoses come together so it can hook up to a manifold and surface supplied navy air pump.

I found an article describing it at a history.navy.mil website
