Great looking Irish halfpenny! Always loved the look of that coin, especially the reverse with the harp. WTG!!

That coin is in great shape for it's age. I am thinking that it may have been in the dwelling until it was demolished, what a fantastic find. Now, like it has been mentioned you may be on a very old site or the coin was part of a collection that was still in the house when it came down, either way you really should spend some quality time in that area just to see if you can locate any old relics or coins that would speak to the age of this site. You may have a really great site to hunt with trash pits and privies to dig.......or you may not.
Anyway, congrats on making it into the 1600's club.

Now that's the oldest coin I ever seen! Congrats WOW!:icon_thumleft:

Thank you all for replies. I spend couple hours on the field yesterday.- 1920 mercury dime ,couple simple buttons and bucket full of trash. I don't mind dig some iron but little pieces of aluminum really getting on my nerves. I was thinking upgrading my machine will help, but it is hard to make my mind without drive test some of the other md.

i had the 350 and upgraded to the pro and made a huge diff on target separation. Aluminum still fools me most of the time though.

Anything from the 17TH cent. would make my year , that's a nice one but , as usual , the link about WM halfpenny's has to piss on the parade and include this quote " Coins with porous surfaces or old corosion are worth significantly less than coins with good copper surfaces."

How much difference between pro and 350 at dept.?

ive found silver coins and Indian head pennies in same area I went over with 350. Don't know if it is depth or the pro audio and iron audio. Plus ground balance helps too. I found silver with the 350 but the pro found silver next to iron and with the 350 it prob sounded on the iron and not the silver. That's my observations so far.

I did a lot of research before I upgraded and for the money it was the best all around machine. I took it to river crossing shortly after I got and sure enough I dropped it in water when I was recovering a target. Didn't have to worry about the machine at all. With the 350 I would have had to stop hunting and throw control box in rice to dry it out. I'm more of a relic hunter but find a lot of coins in these fields that I hunt and so glad I bought the pro. Wife made me sell 350 on eBay I wish I could of kept it lol.

Wow, what a beautiful 17th century copper!! Would love to dig one of those someday!

Congratulations on another nice find. You have found some other nice colonial goodies there around Trappe, MD as I recall.

That's a nice coin, I wouldn't mind finding that myself :icon_thumleft: some more good detail hiding there to

Congrats to you,

Congrats on the 1600's coin. Really a show stopper. I am so jealous of everyone on the east coast.

I like my 350 as far I find stuff and I do. But it is just that feeling like I left something behind.

Yes I did find some goodies and I hope to find some more. Getting tuff to get to the hot spots-timing, farming. hunting... So little time ,so much to be found..

Thank you all for replies . I'll keep on looking for more lost stuff.
