I think it is a fairly newer type shoe. The rounded edge has welding on it. I have borium welded on mine for better traction on hard surfaces

See that deep cut into the outside. Then there are the nail holes. I believe that shoe was machine forged :) Some times if the mud is deep it will pull a thoes off

So how new are you thinking? I know there were Amish in the area doing logging in the late 1800s-early 1900s

The bigger shoe is oldest (pre 1880), it looks to be wrought iron, the smaller one is newer.
