I found this spoon at a sidewalk tear out today. The V nickel was about two feet away. I believe they had been in a fire as the spoon was caked in a hard substance that took almost an hour in electrolysis to get this clean. The coin was not as bad. I have never seen a short handle spoon like this one. It has a full size bowl, about 2"s long but the handle is only 2.5"s long. It is marked "French Plate". Can someone tell me how old it is and what it would be used for?

ff1 - Here is your pattern on Replacements, LTD.

Not much info there... If you Google 'French plate urn flowers silverware' you'll see other examples but not much info there, either. I'll guess turn of the 20th C, give or take a decade...

I'll also guess that the short handle spoon is a tea caddy spoon. Although the 'normal' size and shape of the bowl defy the conventional caddy spoons of that era.

DC,
Thanks, I wasn't able to find anything either. At least now I know the pattern is called "Urn of Flowers, Outlined".
