Info on a Medal needed

I need some information on this "medal" cause i'm not having any luck finding
anything on it. 39mm wide and this wasn't dug out of the ground

Is it copper or brass ? How many were issued ? Who received them ?
And most of all whats it worth ?

2. no idea how many were made/issued ... or who made them
3. probably bought/collected, like any US commemorative
4. The ones on-line sell for about $3.00 and in far worse shape than yours; at most, I've seen an asking price of $10.
