We took a 5 day trip up to my hometown in Northern Indiana and just got back yesterday. The Fall leaves and weather were beautiful!!! I did better detecting then I did fishing this trip. :tongue3: I hit two properties, but only one (1850's house) really produced. I won't post a picture of the place because I plan on gridding it off next time back since I only hit a portion of it. The soil up there is soft and dark, and most coins were 6"+ deep. I was hoping for a coin into the 1800's but it was not to be. :(
My last signal of the day before my wife and daughter made me leave to go have dinner turned out to be a LARGE SILVER - 1944 Walker. :hello2: That makes my third Walker half this year. :headbang:

MY FINDS WERE:

*1944 Walker Half
*Three Rosie dimes - 47D, 52, 59D
*A 1936 Buff Nickel
*Wheats - 44 , 45, 53, 57
*Crotal bell with "No. 4" on the bottom
*"Scout Knife" pocket knife + another
*A "Louis Roule - LaPorte, Ind." token with "10" on the back. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
*A decorative flower piece. Jewelry piece???? :dontknow:
*An address plate from Michigan City
* Metal plate with "Butler Mfg Company". Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for looking everyone. It was a fun trip and it's always nice to go home and see friends and family. :occasion14:

I'm sooooo jealous. I need to buy a better detector. My used bounty hunter discovery 1100 is already on the fritz with the on off buttons not working anymore and I have to cycle the batteries in and out to turn it on. :(

Realman,
I've always used the Tesoro Silver uMax and have had great success with it. Only $235, no fancy adjustments, and it has a lifetime warranty too. This machine has paid for itself so many times over I lost count. :laughing9:

Hey Dug,
I was just looking a the new issue of W&E (the one with you know who on the cover! :D)
and on page 14 there is a token the same style as yours. Mark Parker dates that "scalloped" style to the early 1900's.

Thanks Rob. I remember that now. Very cool. I need to track down if it was a store, saloon, etc. too.
BTW- Here's the scary fishing picture you asked for. Hideous!!!!

Just let me know and we are all over it like flies on....well :tongue3: But of course the last pit we did we brought up a skeleton, it is close to halloween :laughing9: Yikes, take care buddy and hope you keep at it back at your second home!! jgas

Looks like quite the successful trip Doug! Heh, you pass through Cincinnati on your way up there? If so, give me a shout the next time you head that way and we can hunt some around Cincy if you can spare a day. Bill

Jgas,
You reminded me of my video from 3 years ago:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtJ0RmCcRmk

That IS an outhouse you see, and it's not in Hudson Lake. Is there anything in Hudson Lake besides the South Shore train stop? :dontknow: :laughing9:
Thanks Buddy,
Dug

Now thats funny right there Doug! :laughing9:

Tell that homeowner we would be more than happy to uncover some deep treasure and share the finds with them! I am due for a road trip anyhow  jgas
