Congratulations, your belt plate is a very nice find and well preserved, definitely banner worthy. Could you tell us what state you found the buckle in, I am just curious where one would find Indian War relics. As I am already an expert at finding pull tabs, bottle caps, and other worthless pieces of iron and aluminum, I thought I might broaden my area of expertise by searching for Indian War relics. Your cast plate is thicker and more sturdy, with sturdy attachments. The stamped brass is a thin plate that had weaker attachments on the reverse. The Eagle and obverse design on the front, was literally stamped into the brass. I believe the cast plates also have curvature to them, where as the stamped brass plates were flat.Thank you Trezurehunter, wonder what the difference is between stamped and cast
