Dear all,

my great grandfather bought this talwar in India 80 years ago.
The entire sword is 73 cm (28.75 inch) the handle is 7 cm (2.75 inch). This makes it impossible to hold the sword when you have western European hands.
This is all i know about the sword, can someone tell me anything else.

Thanks for your time

About 98% of these swords were made for the tourist industry. These swords are usually judged by the quality of the blade. It appears that you have left the scabbard on the blade so evaluation and identification is not possible.

ABruce is right. You would have to look at the handle for hollow drop casting, riveted tang, a folded metal blade, no alterations to handle or blade. I've seen them without adornment for $150. Also seen them altered and basically ruined by some kid who wants a cool one of a kind sword. Don't know what yours would bring with scabbard and/or adornment if authentic. The one I had was over 300 years old and still had crystalized blood in the folds seen under a microscope from being in battle. I can see your cross piece is different than mine and the belt hanger looks authentic. Best of luck with it.
